3 Home Inspection Tips for Sellers
Talk to your real estate agent about hiring a home inspector before you list your home – it’s not the right choice for everyone.

If you do choose to hire an inspector, follow this advice.
Make Minor Repairs Before the Inspector Arrives
Fix that squeaky hinge, tighten up the faucet and replace the door stop – they’re all things that your home inspector will point out in your inspection report. After your inspector finishes his or her report, you’ll have other things to fix, too, so you can get a head start by working on what you know about now.
Clean Everything
A clean house is easier to inspect, and besides, if your buyers are coming along (many do!), they’ll be in the house for quite some time while the inspector is working. You want to keep that great impression going, and remember, buyers can still back out of the deal. Don’t give them a reason to!
Take Your Pets Out of the House
The home inspector your buyers hired might be an animal lover – but that doesn’t mean you should leave your pets behind during the inspection. First, they could run out an open door and get lost. Second, they could get in the way. Third, your buyers might not realize you had pets living in the home – and that could be a turn-off for some. Take them with you when you leave; it’s better for everyone involved.
