Get your green garb ready and join in on this globally-celebrated day. Originally, March 17th was used to observe the death of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick. It has since evolved into a joyful celebration with parades and festivals complete with special foods, music, and dancing—just like the 30A St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival.
This annual festival, held at Arnett’s Gulfside Farm and Stables, has a little something for everyone. When the opening ceremonies of the festival begin at 3:00 p.m., you’ll see the Color Guard in action and listen to the National Anthem sung by REDD. Next, you can enjoy Irish dancing performed by the Drake School. Later in the afternoon, tap your feet to musical performances by the Celtic Band O’Mericans while you eat tasty vittles–there will be green beer for adults in the Drinks Zone. The kids can enjoy face painting, huge slide activities and other Kids Zone games. There will also be T-shirts available for purchase.
And don’t leave your furbabies at home because there will also be a competition for Best Dressed Pet. The kids will be able to join in the fun to be crowned Best Redhead Girl and Best Pirate Boy. There will also be an award for Best in Parade. So, when it comes to your costume, be sure to bring your A-game.
Mark your calendars for Sat. March 17th (guess that’s pretty obvious). Go here for more info.
