When you buy a new home on 30A, you have high hopes – it’s going to stay organized and neat as a pin, just like it was when you first moved in.
And if you’re like most people, you can pull it off – as long as you use these five organization hacks that will make your life easier.
5 Organization Hacks You Can’t Live Without
Check out these five organization hacks that will make keeping your home neat a breeze:
- Use plastic shoe organizers for small bathroom items.
- Reuse wine racks for other purposes.
- Use magazine holders for canned goods in the pantry.
- Stick Command hooks everywhere.
- Hang spray bottles on a tension rod.
Sounds easy, right? Let’s take a more serious look.
#1. Use plastic shoe organizers for small bathroom items.
Do people really use those for shoes? They’re better in the bathroom.
Plastic shoe organizers are the perfect places to stash hairbrushes, styling items, hair products and other bathroom essentials you use every morning. You can even keep your flat iron and blow dryer in them – just let them cool off first.
Plastic shoe organizers are great for kids’ bathrooms, too – they prevent fingerprints on the medicine cabinet mirrors.

#2. Reuse wine racks for other purposes.
If you have an old wine rack or two (who doesn’t?) you can still use your old rack to tuck away small purses, wallets and other items you don’t use often. You can also use them in the bathroom to hold rolled-up towels (instant spa!) and, if they’re big enough, for shoe storage.
Pro tip: Mount your old wine rack to the wall in your closet to free up floor and shelf space.
#3. Use magazine holders for canned goods in the pantry.
Extra-wide magazine racks are the ideal place to store cans on their sides. That way, you avoid teetering towers that fall over and clutter everything up – and you’ll be able to see what you’re reaching for because they’re lined up neatly. No more scooting cans to the side to find the green beans, chef!
#4. Stick Command hooks everywhere.
Command hooks – known for not damaging your paint or other surfaces – are a great place to hang up items inside cabinets. You can use one to hang the coiled cords of styling tools in the bathroom, one to hold umbrellas inside the armoire, and a pair on the back of your bedroom door to hang bathrobes. Dog leashes and other loose items that are tough to find a home for are fair game, too.
#5. Hang spray bottles on a tension rod.
Keep the insides of your cabinets neat and clean by investing in a small tension rod and hanging your spray bottles on it. You won’t have to reshuffle to reach the garbage bags (which you can also hang on a paper towel rack inside your cabinet for easy access) when all your cleaning supplies are up off the cabinet floor.
