Fiesta in the Forest: January 26, 2019

Join the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center in celebrating its grand opening of Camp Longleaf, a brand-new campground designed to educate students and visitors on biodiversity, sustainability and conservation.

The event – Fiesta in the Forest – is scheduled for January 26, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. You’ll enjoy tacos from La Paz, margaritas, live music and a special bonfire at this adults-only event. Tickets are $40, which you can reserve in advance or purchase at the door; members receive discounted rates.

About the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center

The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center is a 501(c)(3) environmental education center that educates thousands of students each school year and welcomes families and guests year-round. The center focuses on promoting sustainability, educating the public on the importance of biodiversity, and encourages the conservation, preservation and restoration of ecosystems in Florida and beyond. It serves children from five local school districts and has a curriculum that works in tandem with the state’s STEM educational standards.

Because of its unique location in the Longleaf Pine ecosystem – the sixth-most biodiverse area in the continental United States – the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center offers summer camps and programs to members and guests. It offers complete learning experiences with public museum days, guided trail hikes and animal encounters throughout the season.

Camp Longleaf, the center’s newest addition, will open for the summer 2019 season. Day camps run throughout June and July and include fun topics such as “Mammal Madness,” “Super Snakes” and “Whooo Loves Owls?”
