If the interior design of your home feels a little stale and you’re interested in trying something different, consider these simple and budget-friendly ways to take your home from stale to styled.
Throw a Pillow Party
Throw pillows can shift the tone of your décor. If you’ve got dark-colored furniture you can incorporate brightly-colored pillows to add a pop of pigment to your space. Continue your color theme with well-placed accessories and you can give your space a fresh new look. And don’t be afraid to play around with patterns and textures, too, to add depth and layers to your design.
Create a Photo Wall of Frames
Let’s be real. Most of the digital photos we snap will float indefinitely out in the cloud and never materialize into print. But here’s an idea: use your pics to create a photo wall focal point in your space. Pick the photos you really love and print them out in different dimensions (there are companies dedicated to doing this very thing). Frame them using a consistent frame design and dedicate an entire wall to hanging them in a pattern of your choosing. You can also print them all the same size with the same frame style and position them to create shapes, like rectangles or squares.
Perform a Furniture Facelift
If pieces of your furniture are worn, or you’re just ready for a new look, consider using slip covers on select pieces of furniture for variety and an instant facelift. Also, now would be a good time to consider getting rid of that ratty recliner you’ve had since two homes ago and you’re holding on to out of sheer sentimental value. Instead of using a slip cover, give it a pink slip. But you don’t have to replace it with a new piece, just take advantage of the extra space and rearrange what you’ve got to create a new look.
