When you’re buying a home for sale on 30A, you’ll most likely hire a home inspector to check it out for you. Your inspector will let you know about any issues the home has so you can make the best possible purchasing decision.
But what can you expect from a home inspection?
Here’s what you need to know.
What to Expect From a Home Inspection
Most home inspectors will welcome you along for the inspection. (If you meet one who doesn’t want you to tag along, you might want to find a different inspector.) You should absolutely go – it’s your chance to learn more about the home and find out what systems it has… and how you can care for it best.

Your inspector can even tell you how long the appliances in the home are likely to last, which means you’ll be able to make an even better decision (and you may even gain some negotiating power for your dealings with the seller).
What if the Inspector Finds Something Terrible?
If the home inspector finds something that you just can’t live with, you have a few options. You can back out of the deal (provided your real estate agent put a home inspection contingency in your contract) or you can negotiate with the seller. In fact, you can use anything from the inspection report to negotiate with the seller – and your real estate agent will see to it that you get the best possible price on the home.
